Exploratory Hike at Mission Peak

OVERVIEW
This hike will cover approximately 8.1 miles with 2,211 ft. of elevation gain at Mission Peak from Ohlone College located in Fremont. After the hike, we will be heading to Cantaritos located less than two miles away from the trailhead, for lunch.
LOGISTICS
Let’s visit Mission Peak hill because it is green there.! Please arrive the parking lot at by 8:15 am so we have a pre-hike meeting and begin hiking at 8:30 am. After an approximate 3 miles hike in, we will have a bathroom break before heading to the peak. Once we reach the peak, we'll take a snack break and rest. Then, we will be heading back to Cantaritos for lunch.

HIKING ROUTE: The hike is an out-and-back route starting at the Ohlone College parking lot. You can view the route HERE
EXPOSURE: Not much tree cover at all.
CELL PHONE COVERAGE: Poor coverage through most of the route.
BRING: A completed medical form, snacks, and water. Wear layers and sturdy boots. Poles, gloves, and a windbreaker are recommended, as it can be quite windy at the peak.
RESTROOM: There is a restroom at our meeting place. After an approximate 3.2 miles hike in, we will have a bathroom break before heading to the peak.
SIERRA CLUB REQUIREMENTS
This is an official Sierra Club outing. Every participant must complete a short medical form and carry it on their own. The medical form can be downloaded from the Sierra Club website.
SAFETY: We will hold a safety meeting prior to the hike. Nearest emergency services are from the Closet Fire Station: Fremont Fire Station 3., in Fremont, 3.1 miles from the trailhead. In case of emergency, call 911.
CANCELLATIONS
Please cancel 36 hours or more before the event so people on the wait list will have adequate notice to join.
