Hike north of Ignacio Chavez Land Grant
Details
The area north of the Land Grant is an area that I've been through a few times but never stopped to really explore. I saw an old trailhead and that is where we will start our exploration of the area. On the way back home we'll stop at an old ranch site and also what I have been told was an old stage coach stop, between Cuba and Grants. NO DOGS or WHINERS. I would rate this event as STRENOUS due to it's unknown terrain and length. Total driving distance one way of about 80 miles. Half on highway and half on dirt/gravel roads. A high clearance or 4x4/AWD vehicle is recommended for travel. Total hiking distance of maybe 6-8 miles. Elevation gain, best guess is 700 feet. Bring plenty of water and snacks for a long day of hiking. For more information, ask your questions below and I'll answer below. We will leave Target at 8AM and not a minute later. Any westside lollygaggers could meet us at Home Depot on Hwy 550 about 8:20AM.
