Hope Works volunteer day

Hello peeps. I hope everyone is doing well during these times. Hope Works Day Shelter is a place that affords the homeless a place to shower, get clean clothes, receive mail, or just hang out if it's too cold/rainy/hot. In addition to that, they're served coffee and pastries for breakfast, and usually a hot meal for lunch. I volunteer in the kitchen, from helping to prep (cut veggies, fruits, meat) meals, to preparing the salad, gathering cookies and pre-slicing cakes for dessert, to actually portioning out the meals and serving them. I then clean the steam bar at the end of meal service.

This day shelter is opened Mon thru Fri. Mondays in particular, they are very short handed in the kitchen. Volunteering is just one of the many ways to give back to your community. Those of you that know me know I believe we are our brothers keeper, and as such should lend a helping hand whenever and whereever we can. If the kitchen is not your area, but you would love to volunteer, there are other areas.

If this seems like something you would like to do, feel free to join me. This will be opened to a small number of people as the kitchen only needs two to three others. Please feel free to come out on your own if you are truly interested in volunteering, as I stated there are other areas, and it doesn't have to be done through Meetup.
