Timisoara, Romania frequently referred to as "Little Vienna," Timisoara is home to year-round musical and theatrical performances, art galleries, museums and a buzzing nightlife. A progressive, cosmopolitan place. Thanks to its mild climate, Timisoara has lots of public squares and lush green retreats. The city is easy to explore on foot. If you get tired, a tram will be along in a moment; the system is fast, frequent and efficient.
Timisoara abounds with churches of several denominations, a Jewish quarter, an elegant baroque square and a pedestrian-only downtown area. Some of the monuments in the heart of the city afford panoramic views, while the many parks in this "city of flowers" provide an idyllic spot to take a break from sightseeing.
Flights are around £15-30 and it takes less than 3hrs to get there. Cab from airport to city centre cost €10 (30 mins).
Hostels cost £10 for a dorm or £20 for a private room/apartment. (If you really want to treat yourself The Savoy 4* is £40 a night but im going on a budget).

One of the girls I met on meetup last year (Karen) is going to Romania and I’ve decided to meet her out there. She is arriving a week earlier so will let me know where to meet her once I’ve arrived and explored Timisoara for a few days. I will travel by train to meet her in another Romania town which im sure wont be more than £15-£20. For example that’s how much it cost to get to Bucharest and we can stay there for a couple of days or go straight to Moldova for about £20. Then either head 1)straight back home, 2)back to Romania to fly home or 3) find out how much it costs to get a boat to Istanbul. This trip is very flexible you can come just to Timisoara and then head back home or follow us on our adventure and leave at anytime or stay somewhere longer if you like a town. Otherwise you can keep going like me until you run out of money.
