Hiking + Camping at Twin Lakes, near mt. Elbert

As the nights are getting warmer and snow is surrendering to summer - let's go camping near Twin Lakes, just east of mt. Elbert!
This area is great for a variety of outdoor activities, with a couple camping options:
Southeast edge of lake:

• Lakeside camping
• ~2mile hike to a cool historical house (Interlaken) which is preserved in good condition.
• an MTB trail going around the entire lake.

North side of lake:

• Hillside camping with gorgeous views of Twin Lakes
• Access to the mt. Elbert trailhead, so we can explore Colorado's highest mountain (it is, and still will be snowy in May, I don't really plan to summit a 14-er just yet, but up to about 12k it will be plenty hikeable already).
• Lots of mountain wildlife in the area: deer, large red foxes, mountain pika above treeline.

Get in touch and I'll organize carpooling - I'll be driving from COS and can pick up to 2 other people with camping/backpacking gear in my SUV, can also take up to 3 MTB on a bike rack.
