Because a number of parks containing trails close at sunset, does not mean ceasing our fitness activities and health goals on a weekday. Thus, now through March 2026, we are providing weekday night hikes. Mild temperatures expected.

HIGHLIGHTS:
Lake Kittamaqundi & Wilde Lake

  • You will see picturesque trails, beautiful water views of both lakes, wildlife and workout stations.
  • Lake Kittamaqundi’s name, taken from the first recorded Native American settlement in Howard County, means “meeting place” and community members often call this refuge “the lakefront”.

MEETING & START TIMES:

  • Meet 5:30 pm in front of Whole Foods entrance and conduct introductions.
  • Start at 5:35 pm to ensure ending timely for any additional evening plans you may have.

ACTIVITY DETAILS:

  • Terrain has flat paved trails. Estimated elevation gain 200 ft.
  • This is an moderated rated hike for those who hike or walk at least 8 miles per week - and please RSVP only if you can hike/walk 6 miles - THANKS.

HIKING MATERIALS:

  • Running/trail running shoes, sneakers or comfortable walking shoes.
  • Layered Clothing/Gear for protection.
  • Hiking/activity socks.
  • Bring a headlamp, mobile phone with flashlight, etc. for added illumination.
  • 2 liters of water & healthy snacks.

DOGS: There is a limit of 2 dogs for this hike. You and the dog must keep pace. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The dog is well behaved around our group, others and other dogs on trail. Keep the dog hydrated throughout the hike. Thanks!

WHERE TO MEET & PARKING:

RSVP COMMON COURTESY: Only RSVP if you intend to make the event a priority, not just an option. Specifically, it is Not fair to take a confirmed spot, then cancel less than 48 hours in advance, limiting your fellow Singles in the DMV members' in “waitlist” status the potential to participate!

WHY WE VOLUNTEER: Your organizers are volunteers and we are sharing our passion for the outdoors. We organize events for fun, to socialize, get exercise, experience nature and meet cool new people. No bad attitudes please. :)
