HIKE: BOWMAN ISLAND ALL THE TRAILS 7 miles from Buford Dam Road
Lower Pool West, Little Mill Road, Cumming, GA, USThe Bowmans Island Unit of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is located right below the Buford Dam—the dam that blocks the natural flow of the Chattahoochee River and forms Lake Lanier—making it the northern most unit in the Recreation Area. The park is split into two halves by the river, forming a west and an east side. Access to the northern end is at the Lower Pool West Park.
Lower Pool West Park is accessed via Lower Pool Road. If you are traveling east from Cumming along Buford Dam Road, Lower Pool is the first road to the right just before you start crossing the dam.
Parking fee: there is a $8 fee (no cash, credit/debit card only). I believe the National Park Service pass / America the Beautiful Pass /CRNRA Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area
are acceptable as well.We will meet at 8:45 AM the Lower Pool West Park next to the rest rooms.
