What we’re about
This group is specifically a place where women who identify as Black can come together and form a community. Events will be hosted at various venues to serve as a way to meet friends and experience Seattle together. We are open to meetup suggestions, if you have an idea for a meetup and are open to hosting it, please message the organizers.
Our core values are as follows:
• Support and uplift Black women by celebrating and encouraging the successes of other Black women.
• Lead the way – inspire other Black women and be inspired by other Black women
• Strive to make authentic connections, and communicate from a place of love.
• Don't make assumptions. Seek to clarify before making any conclusions. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama.
• Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the Word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others.
• Understand that happiness is a journey not a destination. It is a voluntary state of being based on perspective, not a fixed, concrete thing.
• Hold yourself accountable for your actions. Harmony is disrupted when one is unable to take charge of their behaviors. Don't deny your human quality of self. We all make mistakes and we all have flaws, but it is not appropriate to project or place blame onto others.
• Be open-minded. Don't judge others and be mindful of other's personal lifestyle choices and let them live. (Unless someone is harming someone else or themselves)
• Let your beautiful self shine without apology by striving to do your best. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.
Lastly, please be considerate of the organizer's and/or host's time and commitment. Please only RSVP to an event if you plan on physically showing up. Please change your RSVP (to no) if your plans change and you are no longer able to go. We appreciate your adherence to these core values in order to make a safe, loving, and positive environment for everyone.
