Hello everyone seeking to finish a writing project,

2026 is the year we will get it done!

This group is for Austin writers seeking a regimented weekly schedule and quiet location where they can sit down, eliminate all distractions, and be accountable to a community in pursuit of the same goal: Getting it done!

Most people these days have lost the ability to sit in one place with their thoughts, turn off all notifications, and focus on one specific idea. I hope this group to be one that helps us to get that back, and that 2026 will be a year to cultivate self-discipline and achieve our goals.

I plan to spend at least three hours every Saturday and Sunday writing from 1 to 4 pm. If you feel you would benefit from a similar regimented routine every week, please join me.

This Sunday, from 1-4 (and indeed most of the rest of the day), I will be at a Starbucks inside Randall's at 2301 Ranch Rd 620 S, Lakeway, TX 78734, and anyone is welcome to come sit and write together. However, the goal is to sit and write, and not to spend the times socializing. We will be there primarily to make sure we show up and put in several hours of uninterrupted work, not to discuss our writing, favorite writers, etc. If we want to do that at another time, that is fine, we can exchange numbers, etc., but the goal for this group is process and product.

I am starting this group to make myself accountable, and to ensure I always show up to write.

Meeting in person is better than online, for the purposes of productivity, but online participants who cannot make it to the location but are interested in allocating the time, will also be welcome. Just send me a message well before the meeting to say you want to join and I will share the Zoom link.

I will open my Zoom at 1 pm (CST) and let in any members interested in joining for the three-hour session. I will only be watching the Zoom for the first ten minutes. If you arrive late, I won't be watching the screen regularly to let you in when you appear, and I won't stop writing to greet you. I'll just let you in. Ideally, online members leave their videos on, but mute their mics, so we can see each other working.

In the last 5 minutes, I will thank everyone for attending, and maybe we can tell each other a bit about how much writing we got done, in terms of word count, pages written, outlining, or editing/rewriting. Such reflection on work done can help in setting consistent, realistic goals for future meetings.
