session 1: How to train your performance dragon (Linda Bopp, Alexandra Petri)

Applications are like dragons.
Their life starts with requirement definitions and UX designs, like dragon eggs: they are pretty, will some day become a dragon, but you can't do much with it.
After hatching, you release a baby dragon MVP which grows with each iteration. But bad habits the little dragon learns in its youth will be hard to get rid of in adulthood.
The question is: how to prevent your dragon from becoming a village destroying monster? How to feed it the right code so it turns out to be an elegant, mighty creature? How to prepare it for the environment it will be facing once you release it to the wild?
These questions and many more will be answered in our talk "How to train your performance dragon" for web developers.
