What we’re about
Who We Are
Sit Spot Club is a casual community gathering where we meet to sit quietly in nature for about 30 minutes. No talking, no phones, no agenda. Show up, find a spot, and take a break. It's accessible, low-pressure, and open to everyone.
What We Do
It's super simple! We meet on the second Saturday of every month for 30 minutes to sit quietly and observe our surroundings. No special skills or equipment required. Bring something comfortable to sit on and weather-appropriate clothing. Come alone or with a friend, and feel free to stay and socialize afterward if you'd like. We gather in all weather conditions: rain, snow, or shine!
Why We Gather
Research suggests time in nature can benefit wellbeing. Studies have explored how natural settings might influence stress levels, blood pressure, and mood. Dr. Tara Tiger Brown's PhD research at UBC's Faculty of Forestry examined relationships between forest environments and psychological wellbeing. Many participants report feeling refreshed after spending quiet time in natural surroundings.
Important Information
Sit Spot Club is an informal community gathering, not a guided service. Participation is entirely voluntary and at your own risk. Each person chooses their own sitting location and is responsible for their own comfort and safety. Our volunteer organizers create space for the experience but do not provide supervision or instruction.
Join Us
Whether you're seeking a break from screen time or simply curious about spending quiet time in nature, you're welcome here. Our gatherings are always free and organized by volunteers who are passionate about nature connection.
Remember our motto: "Sit. That's It. Seriously."
