Abstracts
Migrating ING’s Data Analytics Platform to Google Cloud by Adnan Hodzic (ING)
This talk explores my journey as Tech Lead, guiding the migration of ING's Data Analytics Platform (DAP) to Google Cloud. We'll delve into the factors that led us to choose Google Cloud, the diverse teams building the scalable platform for ING tenants, and the implementation of various data, AI, and ML solutions.
We'll navigate the migration process itself - team composition, project scope, the challenges we conquered, and the valuable lessons learned of one such migration for a global bank and in a highly regulated environment.
Most importantly, I'll share how we leveraged Google Cloud to not only migrate the platform but empower ING's data-driven future and outline our exciting roadmap for the platform's continued evolution.
Adnan Hodzic works as the Tech Lead for the Data Analytics Platform (DAP) Public Cloud area at ING. In this role, he oversees & leads multiple teams dedicated to building a scalable platform for ING tenants & users, and implementing various data, AI, and ML solutions on Google Cloud.
His expertise and interests lies in infrastructure, Kubernetes, Linux, containers, and cloud computing. He has created numerous open source projects (auto-cpufreq, wp-k8s, atuf.app, etc) and in past contributed to Debian GNU/Linux (package maintainer and DebConf11 organizer).
Fun fact: Adnan started his own free web hosting company at the age of 18

Constants: surely i'll never need to use a MetaClass, right? by Thomas Moll (Booking.com)
Constants are a fact of life when programming. How can we make them smarter? This talk will cover a brief intro on type systems, how constants fit into the picture, and how multiple dispatch can be used to simplify complicated business logic.
Thomas Moll is a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at booking.com where he works on tooling that enables one of the largest MySQL installations in the world to operate successfully. Previously he worked at LinkedIn in California working on their Hadoop and Search platforms.
