Darling Sketchies,

Time has flown by yet again, but we are back. Spring is the perfect time to spring back into action. So we are doing just that, our batteries recharged, allergies under control, and many fun events planned in the future!

Online meetups have grown on us, so in a fresh, springy, edition - join us with Effi from BMW, who will let us know how corporate politics work, what to keep an eye out for, and how to detach yourself from it.

The meetup will be held on 20.04.2021. at your home, 18:00 CEST. Cameras are greatly appreciated to keep it fun and connected. Prepare questions, sharpen your pitchforks, and let us battle politics together!

Ewgenia Scheck - User Experience Designer @BMW IT

Politics vs. Craft

Ewgenia — Effi — is a User Experience Designer with BMW in the IT Center in Munich. She is responsible for the UX cycle and toolchain concerning BMW’s sales tools in the European market. Also, she acts as a UX evangelist in her division, supporting teams on their UX journey and taking UX to the next level. Effi has seen both the corporate and agency side of creative work and has worked on various levels reaching from hands-on UX and UI work to managing UX and scrum teams and creative projects. Most of her work she conducted in Sketch — of course! As of 2020, Effi is a mother of one and decided to switch her 15 years long amateur theatrical actress career for UX-related talk engagements.

Large companies - corporations are fine-tuned like clockwork. Exactly like clockwork, they have mechanisms that keep them running smoothly. Between those mechanisms is a fine layer of something called politics. Politics are present in every creative project, but you will probably not encounter them directly up until a certain level or role. How can you do a better job dealing with those politics? In this talk, join Effi to hear about navigating the corporate politics and stay in the loop of what might be going on „up there.“
