Sketch at the Top of the Tram in Palm Springs

Have a cool day of sketching after a ride up the Palm Springs Tramway. We will catch the first tram of the day at 10 am. After a morning sketching session we will meet for lunch at the Pines Cafe in the Mountain Station. You can pack your own lunch or order from the cafe. We will then have an afternoon sketching session before heading back down the mountain on the tram on our own schedule. You can sketch inside the tram station or sketch the mountain and valley views from the several observation decks. You can also walk down the concrete path to the 1.2 mile Long Valley Trail to sketch the natural landscape of San Jacinto Mountains.

The temperature at the top of the tram is usually 30 degrees cooler than in the valley. Recently it has been around 75 degrees at the top. Bring a hat and water, particularly if you plan to do any hiking. The long term weather forecast for Aug. 7 is clear, but be sure to check this website the morning of the event. I will cancel if there is heavy wind or thunder storms on the mountain that day. I will post a closure by 6:30 am if there is a weather issue.

The cost of a tram ticket is around $35. More info here. You can purchase your ticket ahead or get it at the lower tram station that morning. Parking is free for locals.

Please RSVP if you plan to attend. I do not have any cell service at the lower tram station so if you are late and miss the first tram, just come up in the next one and find us at the Mountain Station.
