Paddle Boarding and Plein Air Class

The title says 'PADDLE BOARDING and plein air', but you don't have to paddle board! You can bring other non-motorized boating options, tubes, or just splash around in the shallows! Regardless, bring a swim suit and a sun hat so we can enjoy playing outside!

Plein air is the act of painting/drawing outside to capture the natural scenery, light, and atmosphere of a scene!

We will be located closer to the bathrooms here, and I will have a canopy with bright green balloons tied to it.

WHEN:
SUNDAY June 14th 2026
12:00 PM to 5:00 PM

HOW MUCH:
$25 per person to join! This fee will cover lunch and the plein air drawing/painting lesson!
$6 per vehicle day use fee (paid to the ranger station)

BRING:

• A paddleboard/non-motorized boating option OR an inflatable tube! (OPTIONAL)
• Swimsuit
• Sunscreen/bugspray
• Sunhat to protect your face!
• Comfortable clothes to wear after playing in the water
• Extra water
• Towels
• Camp chair/blanket to sit on!
• Sketchbooks/art supplies you're more comfortable with

PROVIDED BY ME:

• A little lesson in plein air sketching/painting and drawing what you see
• LUNCH! (Sandwiches, chips, veggie tray + fruit tray, drinks)
• Art supplies (paper, pencils, watercolors for those who want it, etc)

RULES (by the Pleasant Grove Ranger District)

• Park in designated stalls only.
• No motorized use on banks or reservoir.
• Dogs must be on leash.
• No alcohol.
• No fires.
• No glass.
• LEAVE NO TRACE-- Please clean up after yourself!

AGENDA: (subject to change)

12:00 PM to 12:30 PM - Get comfortable, get acquainted, figure out where everyone is and who everyone is!
12:30 PM to 2:30 PM - Lunch and paddle-boarding/playing in the water! We will enjoy some good eats, fun company, and play in the water before the day gets too unbearably hot!
2:30 PM - 5:00 PM - A little lesson in Plein Air painting/sketching! How to draw what you see, what to focus on, showing depth in our piece, etc.
