What we’re about
The SKG JavaScript Meetup is a community in Thessaloniki, Greece, for JavaScript enthusiasts of all levels. We aim to create a friendly and inclusive space where developers can socialize, learn, and grow, while discussing a wide range of topics in JavaScript and software engineering.
Our focus includes:
- Frontend Engineering: Advanced CSS, browser mechanics, and the relationship between product design and frontend development.
- TypeScript: Leveraging static typing to enhance JavaScript applications.
- Full-Stack Development: API design, server-side JavaScript, and integration with modern frameworks like React, Vue.js, and Svelte.

AI is rapidly transforming how developers build modern applications. In this talk, Konstantinos will show how Angular developers can develop faster and more efficiently using AI, covering:

- Setting up an AI-powered IDE workflow
- Design patterns and best practices for AI-assisted development

Talk 2: Virtual DOM vs Signals: Two Roads to Reactivity
Speaker: Savvas Papageorgiadis, WeAre8
Reactivity is central to every modern UI framework, but how that reactivity is achieved differs greatly. Savvas will dive into the two leading paradigms:
- Virtual DOM diffing (React)
- Fine-grained signals (Solid.js)
We’ll explore:
- How each model handles state and updates
- Their performance trade-offs
- How the React Compiler optimizes React’s model
- Why mixing these paradigms is inherently challenging and can introduce complexity
