Thessaloniki JS Meetup #3: Beyond Core Web Vitals & New Features in React 19

Details
Hey folks!
Here we go again!
Time for our next meet-up. We are happy to announce it! It will take place on April 25, at 19.00 sharp at OKThess.
Our agenda is packed with two interesting talks.
The first speaker Katerina Patticha , is a Senior Frontend Engineer @ Elastic. She works in APM and Profiling teams. Previously she has worked at RedHat (in Prague) at the Vulnerability Service. Before that she has worked for a couple of years in Athens.
In her talk we will see that while Core Web Vitals are great baseline indicators, they don't always tell the full story. We will explore through her talk how the native Performance API—specifically performance.mark and performance.measure—can be used to define custom performance metrics tailored to the specific needs of an application. We'll walk through an example to show how capturing additional performance data can give teams a better understanding of user experience and pinpoint areas for improvement.
The second speaker John Kapantzakis,, is a senior frontend developer at Netdata, with over a decade of experience building scalable web applications. Before Netdata, he worked at Adzuna, Skroutz, and Epsilon Net, focusing on frontend architecture and performance optimization. He's very passionate about JavaScript and modern web technologies .
React 19 introduces a range of new features designed to enhance performance, improve developer experience, and simplify common workflows. In his talk, we’ll take a high-level look at the most important updates, exploring how they impact modern frontend development. He will also showcase a couple of practical examples to demonstrate how these new capabilities make our lives as developers easier.
The event will be live-streamed through this youtube channel, make sure to subscribe to get the live notification or check our slack channel for the link!
