We are returning to the mountains of Rangeley and the Carrabassett Valley for a long-running winter favorite – a classic winter ski safari. Dates: Monday, February 2 to Wednesday, February 4
***Limited Lodging remains! Four rooms available on Mon & Tue, Feb 2 and 3. Single or double in each. ***

For Meetup Ski the East members:
While this trip is organized by the Maine Outdoor Adventure Group, of which I (David) am a member, a few rooms are available on Monday and Tuesday, Feb 3 and 4. This has been a fantastic trip over the years MOAC has been going And with the recent snow dumping. Well, need more be said......

    ### Lodging:

The home base once again will be The Maine Roadhouse in Stratton—an MOAC favorite for years and the perfect hub for Sugarloaf and Saddleback adventures. In 2026, the Roadhouse is under the management of owner Lisa Rigas and her son, Crigas.
We’ll have exclusive use of the entire lodge, including the full kitchen and the large communal gathering room for shared meals, games, and fireside après-ski fun. New this year, an additional suite—the former Jen & Jen quarters—is available, giving us even more flexibility.
    Lodging Costs:
$45/night for semi-private bunks up to $99/night for a queen suite (formerly Jen & Jen’s quarters). Full lodging room options are listed on the registration form linked in item 1 below.
    Organizer: Dave Dancause (dave.dancause@gmail.com | 207-415-6258)
    How to attend:

    1. Fill out registration: [Sugarloaf and Saddleback Safari Registration]; or contact Dave D directly: (207) 415-6258
    2. Contact Dave D to confirm lodging. The Maine Roadhouse will have the registration form information you have completed to ease the reservation process.
    3. Lodging payment is due 7 days before your arrival Call The Maine Roadhouse for lodging payment. Note: Payment before arrival is new this year.

Why this registration form? Ease for Lisa and Crigas to accept reservations. The Maine Roadhouse is no longer a MOAC secret – using Airbnb and other marketing platforms has made the Roadhouse a more popular lodging option. The Maine Roadhouse will have this form data (your registration info) on hand when you call to make your reservation.
    Let’s do this!

    ### Carpooling

If you’re interested in sharing a ride from southern Maine / Seacoast NH, drop a note in meetup with:

    • Your departure town
    • available seats (if driving)
    • preferred departure time
    • whether you’re interested in: Sugarloaf or Saddleback

    ### Mountain Report - Sugarloaf:

Check Sugarloaf Mountain report and snow stake here:

    ### Who Should Come

    • Everyone! How many feet of new champagne powder is enough to entice you?
    • Folks who want a social overnight without hotel prices
    • Skiers who love bonus days when conditions line up

    ### Summary

Ski your choice of Saddleback or Sugarloaf. There are Nordic options as well. Our lodging is nearly equidistant from both Sugarloaf (20 mins) and Saddleback (30 mins)

    • No pressure — just turns, smiles, après, and optional bonus skiing.
    • Because one great ski day sometimes deserves a second (or third) act.
