Meet a Timebank Board Member to find out about Timebanking
Details
Malcolm Schluenderfritz is the Vice President of Timebank Boulder, which serves Front Range communities including Littleton, Centennial, and Englewood. He will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, December 15th in Study Room A at Bemis Public Library. Stop by to ask questions and find out more about how timebanking can help you meet your needs, serve your community, and build local connections. Study Room A is on the main level of the library; if you are unsure of its location, you can ask for directions at the library information desk.
If you can't stop by on December 15th, message Malcolm to set up a time to meet for coffee and talk about timebanking.
How Timebanking Works
A timebank provides a database to track the hours members earn by helping others. All hours are valued equally, no matter what service is being offered. For every hour spent in helping other members, a timebank member earns one "time credit" which can be exchanged for other services. By bringing people together to meet one another's needs, timebanking helps to build a more connected, resilient, and sustainable community.
For an example of how this works, let's say that John helps Anne with yard work; John receives a timecredit from Anne's account. Roger then helps John with his plumbing, and in turn he receives a timecredit. Then Jane does some research for John, and she receives the timecredit, and so on. All kinds of different services can be exchanged among the members.
Joining the timebank is free and open to all.
