Each week, writers around the world gather on WordCamp to read and critique our work out loud. Join us to experience your words from an new perspective and get real-world feedback on your novel excerpts, short stories, non-fiction or poetry.
Hearing your words read out loud also helps you identify what's working and what isn't working. Your ear will catch awkward or unnecessary phrases. What sounds eloquent in our heads might seem clunky when spoken out loud. It also helps you find the music in your words as you develop your voice. Live readings are useful to get a feel for the flow of your prose. Great authors select words not just for their meaning, but for emotional impact, rhythm, and sound
How to submit?
- bring whatever you're working on and get some quick feedback on up to 2000 words from your novel excerpts, short stories, non-fiction or poetry. (Also ok to submit more than 2k words, just requires giving out more wordcoins to thank people who give you feedback)Be sure to upload it before we start using one of these forms:
- Google Docs link submission (if you are are savvy with google docs and already know how to copy the URL and enable commenting for everyone with the link): https://skillca.mp/voice
- File upload submission (does not require familiarity with google docs, you can upload any document format and everyone will be able to comment on the file): https://forms.gle/4AiLaSusoTs9MFDM6
