Data Visualisation for Public Impact
There is an increasing amount of Government data available, both published and unpublished. How can this data be used to improve public services?
The National Audit Office uses a wide variety of visualisation methods to understand the datasets it collects to conduct audit. Rachel Kirkham will be presenting the variety of visualisations, from bar charts to maps, that can be used to generate insights and audit findings, and communicate with the public.

About the Speaker:
Rachel Kirkham
Rachel Kirkham is Head of Data Analytics Research at the UK National Audit Office. Over her 11 year career in the public sector, she has developed expertise in applying programming, machine learning and data analytics tools to the wide variety of data the public sector has to offer, and to financial audit by training as a chartered accountant. Her favourite programming language is R, but she also uses Python, SQL, Tableau and JavaScript for data science and visualisation. Her current interests are machine learning and it’s impact on the future of audit, process mining and diversity in the tech sector. In her spare time she is completing her EMBA at Imperial College Business School and planning her next adventure.
