R Packages: Workflows, practices, and tools for happy development

Building packages in R can seem like a daunting task; however modern workflow packages and practices have made it much easier than it used to be. In this talk Andy will highlight some of the core principles he uses for package development, largely based on tools and practices documented in the book R Packages by Hadley Wickham and Jenny Bryan. He will talk about the use of the devtools and usethis packages for workflow happiness, the effective use of GitHub, tools and practices for testing your package, and documentation. He will also talk about dependency management and mindset, and things to think about for long-term package maintenance.
