Returning this year: elk-viewing sleigh and wagon rides

Haviland's Old West Adventures will offer horse-drawn sleigh and wagon rides* through the elk herd on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Dec. 5 through Feb. 15. Rides start at 10 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. each day. Each ride lasts about 45 minutes, and will be offered regardless of how many elk are present in the main meadow.

Please note that the elk are wild animals whose movements are unpredictable. They typically move into the meadow when persistent winter conditions, such as cold temperatures and snow, push them down from the surrounding mountains. Sometimes, however, herds are found not in the meadow, but rather on the bench, and in these cases, you must view them from the sleigh or wagon at a distance.

IMPORTANT: Tickets for these rides are sold only at the Hardware Wildlife Education Center, and you must buy them in-person on the day of your ride. Tickets are not available online.

Prices
Ages 3 and younger: free
Ages 4–8: $5
Ages 9 and up: $12.50
A food trailer will be present near the ride line, and you can buy food and beverages during open hours.

*Snow conditions on the WMA will determine whether you ride in a sleigh or wagon. You may call the center at 435-753-6206 during regular business hours for updates on weather and elk conditions.
