We are back this month with a new edition of the Sri Lankan Data Community meetup. We have two sessions lined up for you on two interesting topics.

SESSION #1: First steps to Azure Cosmos DB: Getting Started with MongoDB and NoSQL

MongoDB is a document database with the scalability and flexibility, with the support of querying and indexing. The session is focused on how to use NoSQL and related features of this non-relational database. This session will serve as one of the first steps to learn about Azure's Cosmos DB.

Speaker: Hansamali Gamage, Senior Software Engineer, TIQRI

Hansamali has 4 years of experience in various technologies such as .NET, ASP.NET, .NET Core and Azure. She is now working with non-relational databases where she has discovered a special interest. SESSION #2: A Primer on Hadoop

Big Data processing has become a norm now and everyone tries to implement Hadoop with its sub projects such as Hive, Pig, Spark, etc. The core related to Hadoop is based on the MapReduce concept and needs to be understood thoroughly for a successful implementation. Join this session, we will discuss the core components of Hadoop along with demonstrations.

Speaker: Ramakrishna Katakam, Principal Consultant, Oracle Corporation

Ramakrishna is a MCA (Master Computer Applications) post graduate with 13+ years experiences on Data loading/Analytics including Siebel CRM, Data warehousing, BI and Big Data. He is currently employed at Oracle Corporation, India as Principal Consultant and received a star speaker award from Oracle for the year 2015.
