'Tis the season for one more meetup to learn about data technologies, and network! This month we have an interesting session on big data analytics, and a "What's New" session where we discuss about the latest developments in the data space.

Session #1:Insights into HDInsights

HDInsights is a Hadoop service running on Azure that allows you to build massively scalable data systems that cover both batch and real-time use cases. Join this session to learn about the various types of clusters, a walk-through of the Azure portal to deploy these clusters, and finally learn how to stitch the different types of clusters to deploy a large-scale online analytics platform for big data and data science use cases. Bathiya, in this session will also cover the architectural, design and scalability aspects of such a solution.

About Bathiya:

Bathiya is a graduate of Curtin University of Technology, Australia and Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT). He is also an MBA-holder from the prestigious Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), Sri Lanka. He has an unparalleled academic record, and receiver of 3 Gold Medals at the SLIIT convocation a Gold Award for the best undergraduate research publication at the National Conference on Technology and Management. He is also the best graduating student in both his Curtin and SLIIT degrees.

Bathiya has over 10 years of industrial experience in leading design and development of highly scaled distributed mission critical software solutions, and has led teams in excess of 60 members running budgets in excess of $3 million/annum, delivering highly impactful systems generating revenue in excess of $200 million/annum. He is currently heading PickMe's Big Data and Data Science team as the Chief Architect, and prior was the Architect/Senior Manager of Big Data and Data Science at Zone24x7, providing solutions to multiple Tier-1 clients in USA and Canada.
