Walk with Us - at Estero Bluffs State Park!
Details
This is a lovely coastal hike with a mostly smooth trail and little elevation gain. We'll plan to walk out about 2 miles out and then turn around to make a nice four-miler. This one is good for everyone, and you can walk at your own pace. We have some speedy walkers and folks that like a slower pace; listen to your body, there will be others to walk with you.
Here's what State Parks has to say about this spot: The purpose of Estero Bluffs State Park is to preserve and protect a rich, diverse and particularly scenic area of the California Central Coast. This viewshed includes sea stacks and intertidal areas, a substantial area of wetlands, low bluffs and coastal terraces.
NO bathrooms here, so plan ahead. There's a bathroom near the Cayucos pier, which is close by. It seems that dogs are ok from the southerly entrance where we'll park, up to San Geronimo parking area about a mile north. I'll let you make the call on that one.
Directions: If you Google Map, "Estero Bluffs State Park", it should get you there. The parking lot is just north of Cayucos on the ocean side of Hwy 1. It's easy to miss. The parking lot is pretty big and as usual, please carpool if you can. The lot is also really rutted, so go slowly, especially if you have a small car.
Dress for the weather, bring water and a snack, and all of that good stuff. It could be w-i-n-d-y and wet and we'll still go. See you there!
