Sunday Sketchin' - Dorn Pyramid, San Luis Cemetary
Details
Let's get our pre-halloween sketch on!
Back by popular demand, this week we'll brave a historic SLO landmark - The Dorn Pyramid at the San Luis Cemetery off Higuera. The pyramid is 25 feet tall, carved of imported granite blocks, and is the final resting placed of Cora and Fred Jr Dorn - wife and son of a wealthy local lawyer.
This is one session where we'll wall want to stick together and not wander too far off ;)
Parking Info:
Park in the Mortuary parking lot @ 2890 S Higuera St, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401. From there it's a short walk up the hill to the pyramid.
*Note: This is outside in oct so make sure to check the weather and dress appropriately.
______________
Fine Print:
Typically we can get at least two good sketches in per event. Plan for about 25-40 mins per session. This gives us the ability to draw the same space from different angles or pick up and move to another nearby spot to keep things fresh and interesting. After each sketch session, we'll get back together as a group to share and discuss what we created.
Things to consider before joining session:
- Skill level: All ages and abilities welcome. No sketching experience needed. This is a non-judgemental supportive environment that encourages you to express yourself however you want. If you have any mobility considerations please let me know so we can factor that into the route/destination.
- Supplies: Be sure to bring a sketchbook and something to draw with. I'll have some extra pens and watercolor kits if anyone wants to experiment or forgets something.
- Questions & RSVP: Reach out so I can answer them. If you can't make it, be sure to update your reservation in advance so I have a good idea of final head count for planning purposes. T
