Sunday Sketchin' - Pismo Beach Pier & Plaza

Let's get our Sunday Sketch on! This week we'll be venturing out of the comfy confines of SLO to visit out neighbor to the south - Pismo Beach. The pier plaza was redesigned in 2024 by SLO's local architecture and planning firm RRM Design Group (in case you want to learn more about it).

Between the pier, ocean views, iconic 7' tall Pismo Beach letters, Sunset's airstream cafe, and kids whale surfing playground...there should be plenty of activity and inspiration to draw from.

We'll meet right in front of the PISMO letters in front of the pier entrance.

Fine print: Typically, we get two sketches in per event. Plan for about 30-40 mins per session – this gives us the ability to draw the same space from different angles or pick up and walk to another nearby spot to keep things fresh and interesting. Before, between, and after sessions, we'll do a quick group introduction/share of what we created - in order to support and inspire each other while reinforcing the communal aspects of the group.

Things to consider before joining session:

• Skill level: All ages and abilities welcome. No sketching experience needed. This is a non-judgemental supportive environment that encourages you to express yourself however you want. If you have any mobility considerations please let me know so we can factor that into the route/destination.
• Supplies: Be sure to bring a sketchbook and something to draw with. I'll have some extra pens and watercolor kits if anyone wants to experiment or forgets something.
• Sitting: We typically sit wherever we can. On the ground, a bench (if available), on a wall. If you need it, bring something like a towel or blanket to sit on if concerned about dirt or comfort.
• Weather: Bring a jacket as it cools off in the evening and or hat/sunscreen as we may be in direct sunlight for up to 45 mins at a time. If the weather gets real bad we can go indoors or reschedule.
• Questions & RSVP: Reach out so we can answer them. If you can't make it, be sure to update your reservation in advance so I have a good idea of final head count for planning purposes.
