The time has come for Central Coast State Parks Association’s (CCSPA) 6th Annual Butterfly Ball! Please join us for an evening of music, food & drink, inspiring presentations, and silent auction to support the 10 state parks in San Luis Obispo! This year’s gala will directly fund the educational, interpretive and volunteer programs that inspire the current and future generations of environmental stewards!

> Have you ever wondered what happens in our Parks after the sun goes down? Our local State Parks are abundant with nocturnal creatures of all shapes and sizes, and this year’s theme, Moonlit Wings and Wild Things, honors the park’s ecosystems and wildlife that comes to life at night — owls, bats, moths, and more that depend on dark skies.
> Though we don’t have an official “dark sky park,” we are lucky to live in an area with low light pollution, not only giving these species the habitat they need to survive but also providing us a chance to witness the beauty of a dark sky.
> Come dressed in night sky inspired attire — channel the moon, the stars, the shimmer of wings, and the peaceful beauty of the night. We can’t wait to share this special evening with you!

What are you supporting? This has been an especially tough year for our State Parks. For this reason, this year’s funds will support the fundamental programs like:

  • Education Program Support: Providing free school field trips, guided hikes, school supplies and supporting volunteer programs to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.
  • Community Engagement: Enhancing local events, intern programs and nature stores to deepen connections between the community and our environment.
  • Park Maintenance & Signage: Supporting museum exhibit upgrades and maintaining trail signage to improve access and visitor experiences.
  • Western Monarch Conservation Programs: Expanding efforts by staffing the Monarch Trailer, maintaining brochures, and creating educational signage to protect the western monarch butterfly. school group field trips, interpretation materials, maintenance and signage, and of course western monarch conservation education programs.

Dine, drink, dance and enjoy with us on September 27th, to help us reach our goal of $50,000 and ensure 2026 educational programs continue to thrive in the Central Coast State Parks!
