Last Glenbow Ranch Full Moon hike of the season - no headlamps

Details

I am posting my last Glenbow Ranch full moon hike of the season. After this, sunset gets too late over the summer. I'll likely start up again in October.

For my full moon hikes, we meet in the Glenbow Ranch parking lot just before sunset and hike to enjoy the park and watch the sunset and the full moon rise. To enjoy the view, we hike without headlamps and use our night vision. It's important we stay together as a group. You should have a headlamp in your bag, but only turn it on in an emergency. Please use phone only occassionally for photos so you don't ruin anyone else's night vision with the bright light.

For those who have been on my full moon hikes before, this one will be a little longer and a bit faster pace. Since all the ice should be gone, we'll do a loop of 9-10km that goes down by the river. We should have excellent views of the sunset and the full moon.

These events are really about the spiritual experience of being out of the city under the full moon. Therefore, if it is completely clouded over or raining the whole time, I will cancel the event. I will give you several days notice if I need to cancel, but I will not post an alternate location.

You will need good hiking boots, layers, and water. Poles, microspikes, and gaiters are good to have in case we go on muddy or icy sections. We will on both paved and gravel/dirt trails.

I will bring my friendly, well behaved, German Shepherd on a leash. She is an experienced hiker. Other dogs are welcome if they are well trained, friendly, don't jump up or bite, and are on a 1 Metre leash at all times. It's a natural trail with other wildlife, especially at night, so absolutely no off leash dogs. Please post in the questions if you are bringing a dog.

I expect the group to stay together, no running ahead. Group size 4-12. Please answer questions to get the waitlist to get on the list.

Distance: 9-10km
Elevation: unsure, one long uphillhhg on the way back.

Meet in the Glenbow Ranch parking lot at 7:20pm to sign in, ready to hike at 7:3y0pm.

Please note: If you sign up, but cannot attend, please take yourself off the list. If you cancel after 6pm the night before or don't show up (without a good reason), you will be marked as a "no show". It is inconsiderate to those on the waitlist who don't get to attend and everyone waiting for you at the trailhead.
