Meetup time: Somerset LRT Station, East parking lot, opposite to Tim Hortons at 7:45 AM
Trailhead Meetup time: 9.30 AM

Discover this 6.9-km out-and-back trail near Kananaskis Improvement, Alberta. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 4 h 0 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, snowshoeing, and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are June through October. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash. From the King Creek parking lot, the trail is reached by going back down the road and taking the trail that goes parallel to the highway on the right. After entering the forest the ascent up the to the ridge begins. The trail to the ridge is very steep and loose dirt and rocks on the path add to the difficulty. Wearing proper hiking shoes or trail running shoes is recommended.

RECOMMENDED GEAR & SUPPLIES

· walking/hiking poles - very useful for ascending and descending steep sections
· gaiters - very useful to keep snow out of your shoes

· appropriate clothing / layers - Carry layers so you can remove and add layers as needed. No cotton, no jeans. Wool clothing is recommended - wool keeps your body warm and keeps moisture away from your skin.
