What we’re about
This is an online group where we aim to study the Bible in a slow, careful, and in-depth way. We go through the Bible one passage at a time, inviting attendees to pose however many questions they may have about each passage and then attempting to answer the questions posed as a group as best we can. We will often end up looking into the original Greek/Hebrew meanings of words, and looking up relevant historical context.
We do have some basic rules we ask all attendees to follow:
* Anyone is welcome to participate by asking and answering questions or sharing thoughts. You don’t have to be a regular member or have any “credentials". You do have to respect that there are many viewpoints and experiences people bring and be sensitive and respectful in your responses.
* A section of Scripture will often cause people to think about related topics. It’s natural to branch into those related topics. The group discussion will be steered back to the scripture to keep the topic focused.
* This is a primarily Christian meetup group. We do not require attendees to be Christian, but we do require people to treat each other and their beliefs with respect. If you are attending to do proselytizing or attempting to spread any message, opinion, or philosophy in an argumentative or disrespectful manner, we will exercise Meetup practices, and you will be removed.
* We encourage sharing all points of view about a particular topic but discourage deliberate false teaching with the intention to disrespect anyone in the group or convert members to your perspectives only.
* We ask that you do not use this Meetup to solicit donations or traffic to your own on-line materials, either in the pubic forum or one-to-one chats.
