Artificial Intelligence and the Purpose of Work

Details
Work has always been central to human life—not only as a means of survival, but also as a source of identity, dignity, and connection. Today, with the rapid rise of artificial intelligence our most basic assumptions about the meaning and purpose of work are being challenged.
AI systems are writing, designing, diagnosing, coding, and analyzing at speeds and scales never before possible. Some see these technologies as liberating tools that can free us from drudgery and open space for creativity, care, and leisure. Others warn of massive job displacement, deepened inequality, and the loss of meaning that comes when machines take over tasks long considered expressions of human skill.
In this dialogue, we invite you to share and explore together:
- What remains as the purpose of work as AI takes over much of the work done by humans today?
- Is work as more than employment—perhaps a path of human development?
- How can we preserve human dignity and creativity in an age of automation?
This gathering will not be a lecture but a conversation. Participants will bring their own experiences, concerns, and hopes to the table. Our aim is not to produce quick answers, but to open a space where curiosity, skepticism, and imagination can meet.
Join us as we consider the future of work in the age of intelligent machines - and what it means for our shared human purpose.
