Beyond belief
Details
It appears that over the course of the last 5,000 years, we, as humanity, have gone from an unshakable belief in ancient religious truths which provided us with a trustworthy, safe, coherent and clear worldview to a shaky perspective stained by volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity.
Granted, there was a brief period when we considered scientific phenomena as reliable facts, because they could be observed, counted, measured, tested and validated by others. However, with the development of Albert Einstein's Theory of Relativity, justified doubts arose that we no longer talk about the laws of science, but of theories instead. And with the development of Quantum Physics (now Quantum Theory) even Einstein found it hard to comprehend what his fellow scientists were talking about when he referred to Quantum Entanglement as "spooky action at a distance”.
That brings us to the age-old question:
- What is truth?
Are we clinging to the ideas of religious leaders, philosophers, scientists, poets - or do we follow our ‘own belief’?
This is the central question of todays conversation.
