Maria Aiolova
Maria Aiolova is an educator, architect, urban designer and community builder in New York City. She is a leader in interdisciplinary education focused on future cities. Maria is the Co-Founder of Terreform ONE where she created ONE Lab, an experimental school that combines design and science in a singular curriculum. She served as the Academic Director of Global Programs at CIEE (Council on International Educational Exchange), where she created programs in Berlin, Barcelona, Prague, Shanghai, Cape Town and New York. She is an institutional adviser to New Lab at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Maria is currently a visiting faculty at IAAC (Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia), Barcelona. Most recently, she taught at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, Pratt Institute and Parsons the New School for Design.
Wendy W Fok
Wendy W Fok, trained as an architect, is the creative director/founder of WE-DESIGNS, LLC (http://we-designs.com) (http://we-designs.com/)(Architecture/Creative Strategy) and Resilient Modular Systems, PBC ( http://beta.resilientmodularsystems.com/ )(Socially Missioned Venture). She is featured as Autodesk Remake’s list of 25 Women in Reality Computing (2017), winner of the Autodesk AiR Fellowship (2016), Young CAADRIA Award (2015), Digital Kluge Fellowship awarded by the Library of Congress ( http://www.loc.gov/loc/kluge/ ) (2014/15), the Art Director’s Club of New York’s ADC Young Guns 11 ( http://adcyoungguns.org/profiles ) Award (2013), AIA (American Institute of Architects) Dallas “Express Yourself” Women in Architecture Award (2013), and selected designer of the Perspective 40 under 40 Award (2011) and the Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award (2009). Fok has a Doctor of Design from Harvard University from collaborating departments between the Graduate School of Design and the Harvard Law School, Master of Architecture and Certification of Urban Policy/Planning from Princeton University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture with a Concentration in Economics (Statistics) from Barnard College, Columbia University.
Carl Skelton
Carl Skelton is Industry Professor and the founding director of the Brooklyn Experimental Media Center and the academic programs in Integrated Digital Media at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University. His creative/research work bridges the arts, design, technology, and community engagement. He is currently working on two books: "New Soft City Culture: The Case of Betaville" for Springer, and "The Multimedia Programming Fakebook" with R. Luke DuBois for MIT Press. Carl's work has been supported by Microsoft Research, the Rockefeller Foundation through its Cultural Innovation Fund, the National Science Foundation, the Ontario Arts council, and the Canada council for the Arts.
Eric Verkerke
Eric Co-Founded Emergence where he leads strategic and creative work for a diverse set of global clients in international development, public health, renewable energy, and innovation. Among many other projects, Eric spearheaded the strategic and creative work on multiple innovative city-focused projects: the Smart Cities NYC conference; the citiesRISE mental health initiative; and Convergence, a platform for blended public/private finance.
Prior to founding Emergence, Eric led global engagement with The Coca-Cola Company and other organizations as Associate Director at McCann Global Health, working on strategy, client service, and innovation in social impact.
