Smart in the City - Robotics

Details

Smart in the City is back!

This event will be all about Robotics. We have a impressive line up of speakers for this event covering different topics within this industry.

We are really excited to announce our three exceptional speakers who will be delivering technical presentations in different areas of Robotics. Please see below the line up:

Dr. Puneet Chhabra, Co-founder, Headlight AI
Title - To map and monitor the world’s most critical infrastructure in extreme and GPS denied environments.
Information on the location and condition of underground infrastructure is often incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date, and in some cases non- existent. These assets are critical for a world going through climate change and increasing urbanisation. This talk addresses the challenges in maintaining existing underground utilities, transportation, and communication networks, and how to provide valuable information for the design and construction of new infrastructure.

Ben Scott-Robinson, Co-Founder, Small Robot Company
Ben is an accomplished digital entrepreneur focused on mobile and geospatial and technologies. Ben co-founded the Small Robot Company in 2017 which endeavours to replace tractors with accurate, smart, lightweight robots.
With 20 years experience in digital innovation, including the digital transformation of Ordnance Survey, Ben is also an experienced technology entrepreneur having founded two agencies, two consultancies, an app start-up and a phone for the blind.
Ben will be delivering a technical presentation on the evolution of development for their scanning robot, Tom.

Sanford Dickert, COO, UVRobots
UVRobots was faced with the standard problem - build or buy. After winning a InnovateUK contract to build low-cost UV disinfection device, the team was faced with a simple problem - how to make a system that was not just a standard platform base from China.
Sanford, our COO, will go over the constraints and priorities we had moving from our original platform design to a UK designed and built modular base - including the choices of build and electronics in order to serve our end goal of a modular, plug-n-play platform.
Sanford, a Stanford-trained robotics engineer, is the COO of UV Robotics and has lead development of various platforms - both hardware and software. Prior to UV Robots, Sanford built a cloud-based secure platform for security cameras, developed the Texai Telepresence Device from Willow Garage which was featured on the Big Bang Theory, and delivered on high-bandwidth torque controlled manipulators in the past. Additionally, Sanford has taken his systems engineering skills to areas such as Big Data, political advocacy and marketing.
Sanford will also bring Arnav Bisoi (CTO) and Mian Ali (Lead Electronics Engineer) for any deeper questions that may come after the presentation.
