SMART Recovery is a free mutual-help group based on scientific principles and a self-empowerment approach. It is secular, abstinence-oriented and facilitated by trained individuals, most of whom are successful graduates of the program. The hat is passed to support the organization but donations are entirely voluntary. There are 1500 meetings on 6 continents.
