Join us on Tuesday, November 15, for "INBiz: Tips & Tricks for registering your startup in Indiana", presented by Brandon Clifton, Chief of Staff for the Indiana Secretary of State, and Dewand Neely, Chief Information Officer at the Indiana Office of Technology.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At Smartups, we talk a lot about helping aspiring startup marketers refine their “big idea”, educating our members on all of the bells and whistles needed to bring their company to life. Whether our speakers have assisted in the development of your elevator pitch, showed you how to market your company via email and social media or brought you up to speed on the latest innovations in lead tracking, we’ve been able to focus on all of marketing’s newest trends in the digital age in order to hopefully make our members the smartest people in the room everywhere you go.

However, what about the actual launch of your company? Sure, you’ve probably thought through the logistics, but how do you go about becoming a registered business through the state? After all of the brainstorming and wordsmithing to come up with the perfect name for your startup, how do you know whether or not anyone else has already taken it? What about your business’ structure? There are advantages and disadvantages to all forms of business, but does it make more sense to register as an LLC or partnership?

These questions are all important, and essential to the function of any new business. That’s why we’re excited to announce a pair of very special guests for this month’s Smartups event, where we will discuss the launch of INBiz, the state of Indiana’s new one-stop business portal.

This month’s event will take place at The Speak Easy, located at 5255 N. Winthrop Ave. in Indianapolis’ Broad Ripple neighborhood. As usual, doors will open for check-in at 5:30 p.m., with our guests beginning their presentation at 6 p.m.

In his presentation, Mr. Clifton will walk through INBiz’s core functions, demonstrating the program’s features and benefits. Following the presentation, Mr. Clifton will be joined by Mr. Neely for a Q&A panel.

Created in partnership with the Secretary of State, Department of Workforce Development and Department of Revenue, INBiz is designed to help business owners in Indiana register their business and ensure its compliance with all state regulations. For new owners, the site helps you research and file your business, while existing owners can file business entity reports, download copies of certifications and more, all under a secure connection keeping your information safe. To learn more about the program, please refer to the following video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9umphTfAew).

As always, tickets for this month’s event will be $10, with beer and pizza served before and after the presentation. Hope to see you there!
