He received a PhD from Yale in theoretical physics, had a Post-Doctoral appointment at Argonne National Lab, and was a professor at UIC for 20 years. He has worked in chemical sensors, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), and quantum theory for decades. He also writes poetry and does art.
