## A Smerconish Mingle Meetup ## **When:** Monday, August 25th, 5:30-7:30 **Where:** **Level 3 Conference Room** at the Salt Lake City Public Library’s Main Branch Our Smerconish Mingle SLC group is gathering again—this time with a special guest whose career has been a front-row seat to the power (and perils) of modern media. Join us **Monday, August 25, 2025**, from **5:30 to 7:30 p.m.** in the **Level 3 Conference Room** at the Salt Lake City Public Library’s Main Branch. We’ll welcome **Eric Schurenberg**—Founder of *The Alliance for Trust in Media*, Distinguished Instructor in Journalism at the University of Chicago. Co-host of the ["In Reality" podcast](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/in-reality/id1614432176). Editor-in-Chief at Amplify Publishing Group, and former CEO of *Inc.* and *Fast Company*. Eric has spent decades leading award-winning newsrooms and championing truth in an era when trust in media is under siege. This is your chance to hear firsthand how we can rebuild that trust—and why the stories we share matter more than ever. **Parking Details:** The Main Library’s underground parking can be accessed from westbound 500 South or eastbound 400 South between 200 and 300 East. Bring your ticket inside for validation and enjoy up to two hours free parking ($1.50 per additional half hour, credit or debit card only). Bring your curiosity, your questions, and maybe a friend who still believes a good conversation can change minds. **All views are welcome, all voices are respected, and all are encouraged to join in—whether you’re passionate about politics or just want to dip a toe in the water.** \*\*\*Help us fill the house!
