SMG, Santa Monica Coed Soccer Group, in its several years of existence, has been sponsored by such prominent entities like FIFA.com (official web site of FIFA), Coca Cola, Verizon FiOS and others. Its mission is providing a very friendly, respectful and internationally diverse environment for playing soccer, extending friendships, and helping humanitarian objectives.
SMG provides both casual and competitive soccer opportunities. More competitive soccer activities of SMG are carried out under Santa Monica Firebird Football Club (SMFC), which has resulted in several league championships in Santa Monica Adult Soccer League in different capacities, including the coed and the women's leagues.
SMG is very unique for its special characteristics. It is a real coed group, meaning that a high percentage of its members are women, who actively participate in playing soccer in internal sessions and competitive leagues. It is a very diverse group. Its members originally come from all continents in the world. This has been done by design and selection. SMG consists of very decent and friendly professionals with a variety of career backgrounds, and graduate or under graduate university students. It has been providing its uninterrupted services for more than 16 years, at times with 8 soccer sessions per week. It has also arranged and promoted friendly scrimmages with other soccer teams/groups on a "home" and "away" basis, by traveling to other cities.
Also, Santa Monica Soccer Clinic, is a part and a subsidiary of SMG, and acts in the context of community service for City of Santa Monica, and handles skills training sessions.
Finally, SMG works towards community and humanitarian objectives, such as promoting soccer for women in the community and helping underprivileged children to having the opportunity to play their desired beautiful game of soccer.
