In this meetup, we will be practicing the Chen Taiji (Tai Chi) Laojia First Form.
Chen Taiji is the original family system that all modern Tai Chi styles come from. It emphasizes rooted stances, whole-body power, relaxed spirals (chan si jin / silk-reeling energy), and coordinated movement of intention, breath, and structure. Laojia teaches how to integrate the body as one connected whole and develop internal force while remaining relaxed.

We will also study the First Palm Change and Circle Walking in Baguazhang.

Baguazhang is a circular, fluid art known for its coiling steps, effortless evasions, and internal power generated through continuous spiraling movement. The First Palm Change teaches how to turn, change direction, shift weight smoothly, and maintain awareness while moving through space.

Following this, we will have Zhan Zhuang (Standing Meditation / Standing Like a Tree) practice.

Zhan Zhuang is a foundational Qigong method used to build internal strength, structural alignment, calmness of mind, and deep relaxation in the body. It trains the nervous system, improves posture, strengthens the legs and core, and helps open the joints to allow qi and breath to circulate naturally.

This class will introduce core principles and help build a solid foundation for your Taiji and internal cultivation.

A donation of any amount (typically $5-10) is appreciated from those attending, as it helps support and continue these classes.
