*IN PERSON* Drinks / Food / Discussions
Details
Finally doing another in-person Happy Hour event! Come join us for food & drinks and stimulating conversation about controversial topics. Very casual, open discussion group; all views and backgrounds welcome.
(Random topic suggestion but we can discuss anything:)
How much do our personality types influence our political views? Is there any noteworthy correlation between people who are shy vs outgoing, agreeable vs assertive, thinker vs feeler, and predictable political views that can manifest from these personality types?
Could we look at a random brain scan and predict with any accuracy how that brain is likely to vote? If there is any truth to this, then what does this say about our actual views? Can we really say that we have thought critically about the views that we have, or is there no escaping our thoughts being a mere product of our brain?
If there is any truth to this, then what is the point of debating or discussing political views? If we cannot be convinced to have different personality types, and our views come from our personality types, then that means we cannot be convinced to have different political views, correct?
Can you attribute your politic views to any particular childhood events, family dynamic or other factors that may have influenced you during some key moments as your brain was developing? Do these factors give more or less validity to the views that you hold true?
What are your thoughts? Come pull up a chair and join us for some drinks and fun discussion! We'll lead with this topic but can venture off into any direction. Hope to see you there!
For anyone that likes to stick around late we will have a 2nd location that is close walking distance!
(FYI the image for this event came from an online article suggesting that Trump supporters tend to have rotten personalities, haha: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/world/callous-and-manipulative-study-says-malevolent-personality-traits-dominate-trump-voters/ar-AA1KdEHf )
