EVENTS:

- 10:15 AM: Meet at the NOAH PURIFOY OUTDOOR DESERT ART MUSEUM for a 10:30 tour. The docent will provide details of Noah's life as an artist and an activist, and we will have access to an area usually off limits to visitors.

Noah S. Purifoy was a visual artist and sculptor, co-founder of the Watts Towers Art Center, who dedicated himself to the found object, and to using art as a tool for social change. In 2016 LACMA held a full exhibition of his work. In the late 1980s, after 11 years of public policy work for the California Arts Council, Purifoy moved his practice out to the Mojave desert. He lived for the last 15 years of his life creating ten acres full of large-scale sculpture on the desert floor. Constructed entirely from junked materials, this otherworldly environment is one of California’s great art historical wonders.

The Integratron is a fusion of Art, Science, and Magic:
Its creator, George Van Tassel (1910-1978), claimed that the structure is based on the design of Moses’ Tabernacle, the writings of Nikola Tesla and telepathic directions from extraterrestrials. This one-of-a-kind 38-foot high, 55-foot diameter, all wood dome was designed to be an electrostatic generator for the purpose of rejuvenation and time travel
This unique structure was listed in 2019 on the National Register of Historic Places by the National Park Service.

1:45 PM: Public Sound Bath:
I can tell you from personal experience that, due to the unusual acoustics of the structure, these sound baths are a mind-altering experience.

Anthony Bourdain visits the Integratron:

Huell Howser's visit to the Integratron (how I learned of this place): https://www.integratron.com/californias-gold-with-huell-howser-giant-rock/

This is an unforgettable sound experience for those who seek deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and introspection. All Sound Baths are 60-minute sonic healing sessions that consist of:

  • a brief introduction to the Integratron and its history and sound qualities,
  • 35 minutes of 20 quartz crystal singing bowls played live, and
  • the balance of the hour to integrate the sound and relax in the sound chamber to ambient music.

You will be resting comfortably in the deeply resonant, multi-wave sound chamber while a sequence of quartz crystal singing bowls are played. The results are waves of peace, heightened awareness, and relaxation of the mind and body.

GIANT ROCK:
After the integratron, we can visit Giant Rock. Located near the Integratron, the 25,000 ton, 7 stories high granite stone is where the founder held events, and also has significance to indigenous peoples.
