It is significant for being the only surviving home of Helena Modjeska, a Shakespearean actress and Polish patriot. From Interstate 5:
From the North: Exit on El Toro Road turn‐off, turn left onto Ave De La Carlota, then left onto El Toro Road From the South: Exit at El Toro Road and turn right onto El Toro Road
Follow El Toro Road east 9.3 miles until it becomes Santiago Canyon Road
Stay to the left at Cook’s Corner
Travel 4 miles and turn right onto Modjeska Canyon Road
From Interstate 55:
Exit on Chapman Ave and head East
Chapman Ave becomes Santiago Canyon Road once you pass Jamboree Road Stay on Santiago Canyon Road for 12 miles to Modjeska Canyon Road
Turn left on Modjeska Canyon Road
Modjeska Canyon Road:
After approximately one mile you will pass a long tan building with a "Modjeska" signs on the roof
Just past the building the road bears right, crosses a small bridge, and comes to a 3 way intersection Make a left turn around the tree at the center of the intersection to stay on Modjeska Canyon Road The road is very narrow with blind curves, so please drive cautiously and slowly
Follow this about a mile and bear right at the fork with Harding Canyon Road
There will be a Fire Station on the left; just after the station turn right onto Olive Hill Road Arden is the first property on the left; drive through the gate and park in the lot to the left.
Wear flat, closed-toe shoes and bring sunglasses, hat and sunscreen. Part of tour is outdoors. No dogs.
