What’s a hootenanny? An owl - and don’t call me Annie. Ok, so we don’t know. We’re just a couple of artists who got the opportunity to rent my parents’ 4-acre property on the cheap. Now we’re stuck in the woods with no friends and we’re going craaaaaazzzzzyyyy!!!!

I’m a fiction writer/singer-songwriter and my partner Kim is the art director at Traditional Arts in Ferdinand (she also paints, sings, plays uke, and writes poetry). Basically we just want to hang out with likeminded people. But we also have this large barn/RV garage that we want to put a little makeshift stage in. So, if you do music, or spoken word, or comedy or whatever, we could make it like an open mic-type thing. Eventually, we want to turn the back of the barn doors into a movie screen so we can watch pretentious movies and maybe talk about them after. We also have a couple art-studio spaces on the property and have talked about holding painting sessions or something, and our cabin is pretty cozy and would make a good place to talk about books.

All of that to say, if you’re an artist in the Southern Indiana area, come hang out with us!

Food

Snacks and bottled water will be provided.

There’s also a place down the road called Finn’s that makes great flatbread pizza and a bunch of other stuff. If everyone wants to chip in I’ll go get food.

Alcohol

I’m on the ol’ wagon these days but if yall want to byob that’s fine, just nobody get too rowdy on us.

Address/Directions

10445 Twin Pines Ln
Birdseye, In 47513

Gravel roads, my old Nissan Leaf handles them fine, but your car will probably get a bit dusty. Please obey posted 10mph speed limit once you’re in the neighborhood (this is mainly to keep the dust down, but there’s also lots of deer and rabbits and other critters. You Will lose internet as you approach the cabin (we have WiFi if you need) so just in case your GPS stops working:

We are located off 164, near Patoka Lake and the Distillery. Take 164 to Dillard/Wickliffe Rd (intersection with Rustic Treasures and Wickliffe United Methodist) and turn north on Dillard. From there it’s a left on Zimmerman, a right on Dewitt School Rd (curves left, then right again), right on Indian Cove Rd (another curve to the left first, then a fork to the right) and a left on Wagon Trail. We are the last house, circular driveways dead end.

Entertainment

That’s us! Besides the open mic, if anyone wants to bring a karaoke machine, that would be cool! There is also cornhole and badminton.
