Calling All Mountain Lovers!

For years, my family and I endured hours and hours of wasted time driving on I70 to and from the mountains.

We've been stuck countless times in snow storms during ski season and behind never ending construction projects in summer.

The traffic is endless.

And with the 5-year construction project on Floyd Hill (you read that right), there’s no end in sight.

And here’s the other thing…

We have a 5 and a 3 year old.

So getting on the road by 6 am from Denver to go ski or enjoy a summer day in the mountains is nearly impossible.

This left us with 2 options:

  1. Continue the traveling circus lifestyle of misery and spend thousands and thousands a year on hotels and air bnbs.

Or

  1. Buy a mountain house and start actually living the life of our dreams.

So we opted for Option Number 2

Now…

I know what you’re thinking.

With sky high interest rates and a poor economy, I was crazy to pull the trigger, right?

But here’s the thing.

We had a plan.

First - We picked the perfect mountain location for our needs.

Second - We got our finances in order and found the perfect mentor to walk us through the buying process.

Third - We pulled the trigger and bought a mountain house in a prime location within a 20 minute drive to the ski hills and close to miles of hiking and biking trails.

And as a bonus, the house we purchased helps to round out our already stellar investment portfolio.

Well thought out right?

Now, I’m not going to lie.

At first, we were scared.

And we talked a lot about investments and life goals!

But after we did a bunch of research, ran rental numbers (I love super detailed spreadsheets), and found the perfect spot, we pulled the trigger.
