What we’re about

We teach soapmaking, but also formulate and craft all natural skin care products, soaps and home care products using recipes from the Old World. 100% ingredients come from nature: oils, fats, butters, flowers, herbs, spices, salts, clays, seeds & essential oils.

What goes on our bodies is just as important as what goes in it - take control over your health, become self-reliant. Feel better, live longer

Our soapmaking class provides you the confidence to make your own soap at home. All ingredients included to take home the soap you make, as well as recipes and resources.

SAVE YOUR SKIN - SAVE YOUR HEALTH

If something touches your skin every single day, shouldn’t it be truly safe?
That’s why the quality of your soap and skincare matters — and why learning to make your own is so empowering.

Join us for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to craft your own natural bar soap from scratch.

What's Included:

  • Step-by-step instruction on natural cold-process soapmaking (with clear lye safety guidance)
  • All safety gear: protective eyewear, gloves, apron
  • All ingredients: fats, oils, essential oils, lye
  • Use of all tools and equipment
  • A quick dive into the history of soap and how to identify a truly good, clean soap
  • Three simple natural soap recipes you can recreate at home
  • Helpful soapmaking resources
  • Your take home the soap you make! (Approximately 8 bars/2.5 lbs — enough for about six months and perfect for meaningful, zero-waste gifting.)

Why learn to make natural soap?
Your skin is a semi-permeable membrane — what goes on it eventually makes its way into your bloodstream, and ultimately your liver and kidneys.
When you know what’s in your soap, you protect your health, reduce exposure to unnecessary chemicals, and gain the confidence of making something nourishing with your own hands.

Safety notice:
We’ll be working with lye, so please come ready to focus and follow instructions carefully.
What to wear:

  • Closed-toe shoes
  • Long sleeves

While the soap cooks...
We’ll explore some fascinating — and often forgotten — soap facts.
You’ll learn about:

  • The oldest soap known to humanity
  • The beauty ritual of Nefertiti (and yes, we’ll show you a bar of it!)
  • Traditional soapmaking techniques
  • What true soap is (in simple, understandable terms)

And most importantly:
We’ll enjoy the process. Soapmaking is fun, grounding, and deeply therapeutic!

About us:
Ginger, owner of SoapBox, has been making soap for over 10 years. She opened her first storefront in Philadelphia in 2013, and SoapBox went on to win Best of Philly twice. She now operates out of Tarpon Springs, FL. Most importantly, she is a mom, an older mom – her daughter is the main reason she tries to live healthily, so she can be here for her for years to come.

I’m Meghan, and I manage SoapBox Philadelphia. I’ve been passionate about natural living since I was a teenager (my first handmade body product was a homemade sunscreen stored in a recycled ketchup bottle — we all start somewhere!). Since meeting Ginger in 2011, I’ve learned so much from her, and that knowledge continues to fuel my love for this craft. I’m honored to carry this work forward and thrilled to share it with you.
We create soaps, skincare, and household products using only nature’s ingredients — oils, butters, flowers, herbs, clays, seeds, spices, salts, and essential oils. No chemistry degree — just a commitment to health, simplicity, and truly clean living.
We believe deeply that less is more, especially when it comes to your skin.
