We’re just ONE WEEK away, and next Wednesday, Sober Supper Club Austin is throwing a casual dinner party to celebrate the launch of Nobody’s Business, the brand-new spot from chef Philip Speer. We’re hoping to pack the room with 40–60 of you for a night of great food, great people, and a cause close to our hearts.

Meet the chef
If you’ve eaten well in Austin in the last 20 years, you’ve probably eaten Philip’s food. He’s a four-time James Beard Award nominee who helped put Austin on the national food map at Uchi and Uchiko, then went on to open Comedor, his acclaimed modern Mexican restaurant downtown. He’s also one of the industry’s most open voices on recovery: sober, a runner (he founded the Comedor Run Club), and a longtime leader of Ben’s Friends Austin. Simply put, he’s the best sober chef we know.
Why Nobody’s Business is so fun
This is Philip letting loose. Nobody’s Business is a downtown walk-up kitchen he opened with Via 313 co-founder Brandon Hunt, serving what he calls “business casual bar fare”: comfort food, dressed up a little. Think blue corn hush puppies, nachos, and a seriously good cheeseburger. And the name? It started as a joke and stuck. What you eat, who you’re with, and what’s in your glass is nobody’s business.

Giving back
15% of every ticket goes to Ben’s Friends, a national nonprofit founded in 2016 in memory of chef Ben Murray. It gives hospitality workers struggling with addiction a judgment-free community, with peer meetings led by people who know the industry from the inside.
