1.5 day freelance trip on the Pacifica
Details
I'm booked for a 1.5 day fishing trip onboard the Pacifica out of Seaforth landing in San Diego, mission bay. The trip cost is $500 per person, including bait, and bunk. Additional costs will be for food and drinks from the galley, there's usually a meal plan that includes breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner for Wednesday, or you can buy meals individually, fish cleaning, and crew tips which traditionally are 15-20% of the total trip cost.
Tickets can be booked online through the Seaforth landing website www.seafothlanding.com or by calling the landing at 619-224-3383 make sure that you book for the Pacifica 1.5 day trip departing on Tuesday 8/26/25 @ 6PM, ticket price is $500 per person.
The Pacifica is a consistently high catching boat with a professional crew of captains, galley cooks, and deck hands. I fish this boat regularly and usually come home with a cooler full of fillets.
This is a freelance trip targeting tuna and yellowtail. The owner and captain, Andrew Viola is a great fisherman and fantastic captain. It's fishing so no outcome is guaranteed, but in my experience if anyone boat catches fish and the Pacifica is out, they will come back with fish as well.
The target species will most likely be bluefin tuna, if you don't have fishing tackle that is upto fighting tuna, the landing offers rental rods and reels for anglers fishing on their boats. Ask for a rental rod when you make your reservation.
Be aware that although there are bunks on the boat, each passenger is responsible for bringing their own pillow and blanket, or sleeping bag.
I asked the landing if we're expecting to fis in US or Mexican waters and they reported that it has been boat by boat and day by day, apparently the bluefin tuna have been close to the international border. So when you arrive at the landing bring your California fishing license if you have one and your Mexican fishing permit if you have one of them as well. If not you can buy a California fishing license from the tackle shop and a Mexican fishing permit from the check in crew for the boat.
Arrive early to check in, get your bunk assignment, and line up to board the boat. Boats usually load about half an hour before departure time. There's a restaurant across the breezeway that sells burgers burritos, beer and drinks so come down, check in at the landing, get a spot in the lineup, and order dinner before you get onboard the boat.
I'll send my number to anyone who signs up so that you can text or call me when you arrive.
